Leadership At McIntosh

Daniel Sanderson (Lead Elder)

Daniel lived in St. Peters Missouri until middle school, when his family moved to Marietta, Georgia. While in high school Daniel was saved when God confronted his religious hypocrisy and showed him that true purpose, security, and fulfillment was found only in Christ. He attended Georgia Southern University and graduated in 2012 with a B.A. in Philosophy. While in college, Daniel was actively involved in Campus Outreach – which is where he met his wife, Chelsea. Upon graduation, they got married and moved to Singapore to minister among college students. After returning to metro-Atlanta in 2015, they became members at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Sandy Springs, GA. Daniel worked as a certified Home Inspector until joining the staff of MVBC as the Operations and Facilities Director in 2021. Later that year he gladly accepted a call from the church to serve as a Lay Elder. Daniel completed an M.DIv and a Certificate in Apologetics & Philosophy from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Spring of 2025. He and Chelsea have four children: Remy, Mack, Winona, and Fletcher. He often spends his extra time wrestling with his kids and fixing up his house.

Reese Simmons

(Lay Elder)

Reese has called Griffin home his entire life. He was saved at 16 years old during a Sunday evening service through a sermon from a mission-field returning church member on the Great Commission in Matt. 28:18-20. That night, he realized that following Jesus was different from knowing about Jesus, and he desperately wanted to follow Jesus. He was discipled by that fellow church member for the next 2 years. Reese graduated summa cum laude from Brewton-Parker College in 2012 with a B.A. in Communications. He worked briefly as a press assistant in a U.S. Senate office, then as an education coordinator for a Georgia 4-H camp, before meeting his wife, Brittany. In 2014, Reese started working at a third-party logistics warehouse in Griffin to better support his future wife and family. Through the providence of God, Reese and Brittany have co-owned that business since 2020. Reese and Brittany married in 2015 and have 5 children: Abigail, Gerald, Sauley, Jeremiah, and Margaret. They also cherish the memory of Isaac and Rachel, who passed before birth. Reese is working (slowly) on an M.Div from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In his spare time, he enjoys camping with his family and working around their backyard farm.
